League of Women Voters of Indianapolis

The League of Women Voters of Indianapolis is one of 23 local nonpartisan Leagues across the State of Indiana.

Year after year, our members, volunteers and community partners help educate voters, provide trusted nonpartisan information, advocate for fair elections and create spaces for civic participation throughout our community.

Education and Advocacy

Like the national League of Women Voters (LWVUS) our Indianapolis League has two separate and distinct roles to educate voters and to advocate for policies that benefit all Indianapolis residents. We welcome you to join in the causes that matter most to you.

Volunteer Opportunities

We share information about elections, the voting process and issues affecting Indianapolis residents. Our members register voters and help maintain Vote 411, a one-stop shop for volunteer information.

Advocacy Opportunities

We are nonpartisan, but after study, we use our positions to advocate about policies in the public interest. Our positions are documented at the local, state and national level.

Our History

The League of Women Voters of the United States has empowered voters and defended democracy since its founding on February 14, 1920, just six months before the ratification of the 19th Amendment to the Constitution. (LWV-Indy was formed the same day!) Local league members are also members at the state and national level.
